Dr. Brian Lee of Scottsdale Sinus and Allergy Center was recently named one of Phoenix's Top Doctors of 2022 by Phoenix Magazine.
Born and raised in Southern California, Lee completed his medical schooling and training at Loma Linda University and the University of Southern California and then moved to Arizona over a decade ago.
"Since moving to Arizona 12 years ago, I have begun to suffer from seasonal allergies," Lee told Phoenix Magazine. "Luckily, I’m only symptomatic in the spring. During that time, I’m religious about using sinus rinses, taking a daily antihistamine and nasal steroid spray."
Lee isn't alone in experiencing seasonal allergies, with many patients who visit his office suffering from allergies or chronic sinusitis.
At Scottsdale Sinus and Allergy Center, patients can be tested for allergies, and chronic sinusitis can be diagnosed through an in-office, low-radiation CT scanner. Immunotherapy allergy shots and an in-office procedure called balloon sinuplasty are a couple of treatment options available to patients.
“I think most people that don't have issues with their nose or sinuses have no idea," Lee said. "For the unfortunate millions of people that are suffering from chronic sinus issues, all of these sinus issues trickle down into every facet of their life, because when you're not breathing through your nose, you're not sleeping well. And then you don't have the proper energy, and you feel foggy all the time. Unfortunately, this happens kind of slowly and chronically, and people unfortunately accept this as the new norm and figure, 'Well, most people are like this' or 'This is just kind of the way it is' and something they've got to live with. Luckily that's not the case, and there are a lot of easy, simple things we can do to really improve their quality of life."
One of Dr. Lee's passions is taking part in medical mission trips. He's been to Africa twice, both Uganda and Liberia, to perform surgeries for local residents.
In his free time, Dr. Lee enjoys spending time with his two children and playing golf.
